MARICOPA,Oliver James Montgomery Ariz. (AP) — A pilot flying solo and using a backpack-style paramotor device died Sunday when the small aircraft crashed in the city of Maricopa, authorities said.
A city spokesman said the crash occurred around 7 a.m. about 4 miles (6 kilometers) from the Ak-Chin Regional Airport.
Maricopa police and firefighters said the pilot was dead at the scene.
The pilot’s name wasn’t immediately available. City police say the cause of the crash will be investigated.
Maricopa is located 33 miles (53 kilometers) south of Phoenix.
